Moderate amounts of Sex and its Health Benefits
Sex is a rather delicate issue for many people as not everyone has the same views regarding the subject nor do they even feel very comfortable discussing it. For most in the western world, sex has become almost something of a common exercise. In places like America or Europe, sex has been classified as a very normal part of the human biological system and a moderate amount of it is actually very healthy. Though this is not to say that they condone sexual intercourse for underage teens or pre-marital couples, neither do they encourage being ashamed of it as would other conservative countries.
But putting aside ideologies or philosophical point of views, over the last few years modern science has studied the health effects of regular intercourse and mountains of evidence have surfaced which point towards sex’s promotion of fitness and longevity.
For a more comprehensive list of these benefits, just refer to the following:
Stress relief
If you are feeling frustrated during the day or if you are stressed out because work did not go very well, you obviously need something to relieve you of that damaging feeling and sex provides that relief quite nicely. It has already been observed that stress causes a myriad of problems for the human body and is a major contributor to contracting commons illnesses. To avoid this, you will need an effective method of ridding yourself of stress and replacing it with satisfaction. Sex does this by lowering blood pressure and stimulating the pleasure areas of the brain and coaxes the organs which produce those happy hormones to make more.
Better immune system
Studies have shown that having sex at least twice a week will help the body fight off infection by producing more of the antibody called immunoglobulin. This helps prevent the common cold and other infections that would give you a sick day.
Calorie burner
For every half hour or 30 minutes of sex, you burn 85 calories or more. This may not seem like much, but depending on the frequency and length of the activity, it can be as effective as an hour in the gym and is much more stimulating.
Better heart
Just as lifting weights or regular exercise allows your heart to become stronger, so will sex provide the same result. Recent studies have shown that subjects in higher age groups who have been having regular intercourse actually have stronger hearts than those who have chosen to abstain.
Self-esteem booster
Just as sex is good for your physical health, it’s also beneficial to your emotional needs. Good Self-esteem is something that is difficult to get and it can be even harder to maintain. Having sex allows for those happy hormones to provide you with satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment, especially if it went very well.
Improved intimacy
There is credit in the saying “Distance makes the heart grow fonder”, but closeness and physical contact does a far better job at improving relationships. For those who want a more intimate bond with their significant other, sex can be a major contributor; though this is not to suggest that it’s the only one.
Pain reduction
The various chemical reactions in the body and the brain can go a long way towards lessening the discomfort you may feel. This is due to the dopamine and endorphins that flood your system while in the process. So if you run out of pain medications, this might not be such a bad idea.
Sounder sleep
For anyone who has ever experienced sex, they would know the blissful feeling of content and relaxation that comes after. Th
is allows for better sleep and decreases the chances insomnia.
But it should always be remembered that like all good things, too much sex can cause problems of its own. So just because it can be good for you, that does not mean you should do it at all hours of the day.
